Obituary

Richard Dennis Lynch, of West Haven passed away May 17, 2021 at Lord Chamberlain Nursing & Rehabilitation Center surrounded by family. He was the beloved husband of 59 years of Valerie Modzelewski Lynch. Born in New Haven on September 3, 1943, son of the late Robert and Ethel Behnke Lynch, Richard was a proud US Navy veteran serving during the VietNam Conflict. Following his service, he was appointed to the New Haven Fire Department where he served as a firefighter and paramedic for 25 years. He later worked for AMR as a supervisor and community outreach manager for 10 years. He was beloved by his colleagues for his skills and sense of humor. Richard was an avid golfer and a member of the New Haven County Firefighters Emerald Society. He is the proud father of Robert (Christine) Lynch and Kimberly (Joseph) Keane. Brother of Barbara Corso, Susan (John) Bowen, and John Lynch. Grandfather of Robert Lynch, III, Hannah Lynch, Molly Keane, Aidan Lynch, and Connor Lynch. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Richard's family would like to offer their thanks to the staff at Lord Chamberlain for the exceptional care they provided him during his illness.

Visiting hours will be held Friday evening from 4:00-7:00 in the Monahan, Cox, Smith & Crimmins Funeral Home, Inc. 11 Wooster Place in New Haven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning at 10:00 in St. Michael Church. Burial will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Masks and social distancing are required for all services. Memorial contributions may be made to Lord Chamberlain Health & Rehab 7003 Main St. Stratford, CT 06614.
