Mary Doolan- Cannon Irons

Mary Doolan-Cannon Irons, RN, of East Haven, formerly of Orange passed away July 16, 2018 in Orange Healthcare Center. She was married for 62 years to the love of her life, the late William Irons. Born in Bridgeport, CT March 15, 1922, daughter of the late Peter Doolan and Clara Baylis Doolan Cannon and step-daughter of James P. Cannon, Mary was a graduate of St. Raphael School of Nursing, class of 1942. She was a staff nurse at the Hospital of St. Raphael and later worked as a private duty nurse for many years. She was a longtime member of the Holy Infant Ladies Guild, the New Haven Council of Catholic Women, and the Hospital of St. Raphael Alumnae Association. She is the beloved mother of Mary Varunes and Kathleen (James) Harper. Proud and loving grandmother of Jessica Varunes, Kristin Varunes, William J. Harper, and Emma Harper (Glyn Harris). Mary was a loving and caring person who touched many lives.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday morning from 8:30-9:30 in the Monahan, Cox, Smith, & Crimmins Funeral Home, Inc. 11 Wooster Place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Infant Church at 10. Burial will follow in Orange Center Cemetery.
