Barbara M. Kavanagh, of East Haven, passed away peacefully at her home on March 21, 2021. She was the loving and caring wife of Edward T. Kavanagh for forty-five years. Born in New Haven on June 15, 1944, she was the eldest daughter of the late Kenneth and Genevieve Coleman Griffiths. As a young woman she was very active in Rainbow Girls and rose to the position of Worthy Advisor and eventually held a position at the state level. Barbara received her RN degree from Central Connecticut State university and went on to be a nurse at Yale New Haven Hospital for over forty years. She was a passionate and active parishioner of the Old Stone Church in East Haven, heading up Lay Ministry for nearly twenty years as well as being on every committee she could. She also served on the Town Council of East Haven for several years. She was the devoted sister of Nancy Worms. She was a beloved aunt of Katie Donroe and her husband Adam and Wendy Worms and her husband Brett Wilson and a doting great-aunt to Oliver and Paisley Donroe and Benjamin and Nathaniel Wilson.
Due to current Covid-19 restrictions, a graveside service will be held at All Saints Cemetery on Thursday March 25, 2021 at 1:00pm. Face masks and social distancing are required. The Monahan, Cox, Smith & Crimmins Funeral Home, Inc. is in care of her arrangements.
